Emergency Preparedness

One of the main goals of public health is prevention. We at Jefferson County Public Health work to plan and prevent injuries in our community is by developing plans and procedures in case of a disaster. Our staff works to promote preparedness in a number of ways, including:

  • Coordinating with local emergency preparedness partners to facilitate & mitigate responses to disasters, including natural disasters & pandemics

  • Create & update disaster plans

  • Compile & create resources to respond to & recover from disasters

The state of Iowa has an emergency notification system that is county-specific, and free to the public, called Alert Iowa. You can sign up to receive notifications here.
